There were all these family businesses with land that had zero book value.> As an accountant, I can assure you that LAND is NOT A DEPRECIABLE ASSET under generally accepted accounting or tax principles. This has been the case for at least the last 40 years (probabley much longer). Therefore, land must be shown at cost on the books of such family businesses. P
