Richard, I feel sold out, sold out by Selvin and crew. If there is a phase II, another shoe to drop to explain this bizarre turn, then its delay is aimed at only protecting those in the know and screwing the little guy, as was the mid-day announcement. I feel cheated about the NATURE of the announcement and the PRICE. Man, not only is the core business gone but also all DSL next-gen stuff, the G-Vil brand name, damn. Your guess about the cash flow trouble seems odd to me. As I remember it, the company was cash flow positive last quarter and hadn't retapped into its line of credit. Sure, maybe they did have a big cash flow problem with having to not only supply the channel with v.90s but also ready reorders of the Apple modem and perhaps a ton of pc cards for Apple too, but that's not the worst problem in the world to have. I would think there's a way to get around that. But hey, modem business is picking up and that puts us out of the modem business? Yeah, right. Seems like somebody is going for the brass ring here, at the expense of the shareholders. And I'm not too pleased about all that R&D money that has torpedoed the last few quarters--we suffered and those that remain at GVIL get the benefits. (Not that it has been all fun and games for the GVIL employees the last year or two.) In any case, why stay in the stock now? This quarter has to be bad--if it was good they wouldn't be dropping the modem business. Plus, they will use this quarter to toss in any kitchen sink things they can, in order to show how "bad" the modem business was and to give them easier comparisons down the line. And as you point out, there are no new products yet. When does this company start to make progress? A year from now? No thanks. Too much opportunity cost lost. You fought a great fight on this one Richard. To all: FWIW, I ended up with a slight profit on my GVIL positions so I think my annoyance is not just sour grapes from a bad investment. Marc Further edit--am surprised at how the price is holding up. And would've even preferred a secondary or bond issue to get them the cash needed to ship product/stay in business while moving into new markets. Would love for Kopp to be buying all the shares down here and then voting no on this crummy deal. PS--Jeff, I'm an optimist too, but I'm going with Thomas and Richard, et al, on this one.
