tuck, I have seen triglyceride elevation mentioned with regard to retinoids and/ or rexinoids. But the evaluators always considered it as a minor toxicity issue. We'll definitely need Henry's input on this.
Good idea not to have a rocky relationship with your belayer, or your "A" one either.

Tuck, the TG spike you mention may or may not be a problem. Can you point to a site with a better description of the phenomena? Normally there is a postprandial rise in serum TG about 3-hr after a meal that corresponds to intestinal absorption of dietary fat. It lasts about 2-hrs, and is highly variable from person to person. The magnitude of the rise is about 100 - 150 mg/dL over baseline fasting levels, depending on the amount of fat in the meal. The rise is generally more severe in hyper TG patients who probably have an impaired clearance of TG from lipoproteins. Not many drugs affect TG clearance, but ethanol does, so the experimental design may be a factor.

The FDA will look at the difference in magnitude of the rise between controls and drug treated patients. If the rise is greater and more prolonged, then it might be a point of concern. If you could give me some numbers, I'll try to interpret them for the astute SI afficionados. I'm currently conducting a drug trial in this area where the effects are much greater in magnitude and duration, so it's definitely an issue of safety for this particular drug.
