re: valuation models confuse
I think it takes a LOT of research to be able to short properly. It will be a while before I feel comfortable doing that (if ever). I guess I'll have to learn how when we get into a bear market. (if I cant find stocks that are going against the trend).

What I have to work on now is NOT talking myself out of great investments. I notice on every thread of great companies (or what I consider great companies) there is someone or many warning about "its too high and it will fall". Lucent has few messages compared to Dell but already the Lu thread has its naysayers. And I react by thinking "oh maybe I should sell it and try to buy it back cheaper"But frankly that hasnt worked for me yet! However, I do have a couple of holdings that are almost at target prices to sell, and they are not long term holds like Lu and Dell are. When I sell them I will finally have cash for the "big down day" whenever it comes.

How do the rest of you do with this trying to have cash at the right time strategy?

Hi Paul,..Re:<<"Don't short on valuation".>>

Favorite stocks for those who short on valuation. Kind of strange considering the gains to be had from going long?
