Now that is a scary thought, someone sounds "too polished" and "too articulate" to be a Valence shareholder...

Webpilot,

Given the timing of your post, I choose to think I am the "polished...gentleman" you mentioned. Pardon my blush!

Yesterday was my first time posting, but I have followed the SI Valence thread for about a year. Not only does new information show up here quickly, but I particularly appreciate the well-reasoned posts regardless of their slant. They all help me hone my own thinking. As a way of expressing my gratitude to you and the others who have been posting (and since the success of the thread depends on the readers' participation), I thought the time had come to offer my own observations. I hope I can craft them to be useful to others; I don't want to be just venting steam. I promise too to make (most of) my future posts less long-winded (and more useful to others)!

The absence of a profile is quite innocent; please be reassured that I am not a plant. In the rush to leave on a three-week trip in late February, I forgot all about the profile when I signed up with SI. I missed the $75 SI price last fall, and didn't want to miss the $125 price this time. For what it's worth, here's a little profile. I am an economist specializing in the core theory of economics, but I have long enjoyed following the twists & turns of the sciences and engineering, which has led to involvement in the startup of several hi-tech businesses. While these experiences have been of great educational value, I claim no special expertise in any branch of science, engineering, or business. I was attracted to Valence some years ago when I first began thinking about the economy's voracious appetite for batteries. The commercial potential of lithium polymer intrigued me. Also, I could not suppress a certain parochial predisposition toward Valence as I am a native Nevadan who lived in Henderson for a time as a child back in the early '50's. Valence now is in the desert where we played -- and now I live in a high-rise overlooking DC.

Regards

to Mr. Webpilot,

I'll echo lms's sentiments and I'm not a plant at all. And I've no profile listed.

In my last direct conversation with someone at the company, which was a number of weeks ago, I was told that both DA and LD were getting close to 100 calls a day on the status of the project. Now just 3 minutes/call responding is 5 hrs/day.

DA indeed last year, before LD took over, returned more than 100 on a weekend. I got one Sunday night around 10:00 p.m. EST.

I would be delighted to have a conference call like everyone else. And despite their professed intentions of so doing, maybe we won't get one for several more days or weeks. But I still feel the company is very close to successful integration of all the line parts. And still ahead of others in the industry, including one or your own positions, Mr. webpilot, ie, ULBI.
