You beat me to it:
"Separately today, AOL wouldn't comment on rumors that it is about to announce a deal with GTE that would enable AOL to offer digital subscriber line, or DSL, service to its users." If this happens the Baby bells will have to get moving!

Cheers,

>>don't count the home team out yet

Orckit the GTE home team? Ahead of what schedule?

>> but that doesn't have to translate into losing $...

If the street doesn't figure it out right away does it matter?
I don't think the street figures out all these intricate little contract deals because the details are kept under wraps. If the winner low balls the rest they better have a profitable solution in the LONG run or they are DEAD

>>would think that the bottom line would be silicon related

Are you privy to Orckit's silicon solution? Its cost-effectiveness to say ALA or WSTL. What is this elegant solution to GTE? At DT, I am sure ISDN played an important role, what would the impetus be at GTE? How the networking soltuion is handled, the traffic management?

Please enlighten the less informed. I like your thinking on such a day as this and would like a reason to buy beyond DT
