How efficient is trading on the internet ? Do the trades go through right away for Canadian Stocks?

Thanks for the responses on brokerages. Now someone tell me when those $8 flat rate trades that are advertised all day on CNBC will be arriving in Canada.

Hi - just scrolling thru' this stuff. Good thread!
Lately (ie past 6 weeks) I have found Greenline very slooooooooow at 12.30 to 1.00 pm time slot( Hongkouver/Pacific Std.Time). Persumably, there is heavy trading towards the close.
JD Barr at Greenline is very sympathetic to this issue. He offers that some service providers use crap lines ( aka Sprint). Is this for real?
I use IBM.net.
I am also trying to find out how you go about trading off other exchanges, such as Frankfurt/London, Hong Kong? anybody doing it?
I am also researching what non resident (for Can.Tax purposes) discount traders do. ? Don.
