Hi Peter: Here are a few references regarding the Y2K v. Microsoft question.

In the past, Microsoft told customers that all its products were year 2000-compliant. Those statements were not only inaccurate, they "put a lot of pressure on IT managers who were trying to put together budgets for desktop conversions," Moore said.

Matusow said Microsoft's core products are all compliant -- including the latest releases of Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows for Workgroups, Microsoft's Internet products and Office suite.

I guess Microsoft assumes that everybody knows (assumes) that their products are Y2K compliant. If it turns out that their products are not Y2K compliant then they will soon be in big trouble.
