Anyone think once we can have a blow off when the funds have officially finished the window dressing? Yes I know the quarter is over, but it seems some money has been flowing into the undervalued beat up stuff the last couple days..

CAN I SHORT AMZN YET? :) Waiting to take the plunge.. My last short was PRST, got in to early and couldn't hold on..... Huge loser for me cause I ran out of funds. Not a problem now, plenty of funds for a few hundred share short..

Hey Candlestick,

What is driving this thing upward? I'm really surprised that the short % is so low. If the float is 11mm, this stock could really fall quickly when it does turn.

Short interest for AMZN is as follows:

Month Shares Short Avg Daily Volume S/A*
03/98 3,565,482 873,318 4.08
02/98 3,222,551 466,188 6.91
01/98 2,987,835 364,447 8.20
12/97 2,272,762 236,373 9.62
11/97 2,145,400 446,296 4.81
10/97 1,987,164 363,864 5.46
09/97 1,827,982 217,944 8.39

* S/A = Shares Short / Avg Daily Volume; it may be used
as a rough measure of days to cover

The shares outstanding for AMZN: 23.9 million
The shares float for AMZN: 3.0 million

The shares outstanding and float is data from quote.yahoo.com. I
don't know exactly why the # short is actually higher than the float,
but the data is reliable.

Stick,

I can't believe that insiders have been able to dump 8 million shares in the last few months (and keep the price climbing). Is there any way to check this data on the float from another source?

So we now know the correct float, most likely increased due to the recent insider selling.
It is 11.5 million shares..........;^)

You are assuming CNBC is correct?
