Notes from the KLIC conference call.

Cancellation from Intel. Will create $30 mil hole in June qtr. Don't see any surprises in March or Sept. qtrs, expect to meet analyst estimates.

Intel is unusual in they were buying the 8060 to replace old KLIC bonders. Most customers just buy to increase capacity. The Intel finance department made the decision to cancel the upgrade. Intel will stick with its old units and suffer the corresponding reduced yield. All this is in response to the sub-$1000 PC shift. Speculation is a greater Intel spending reduction, or a shift in investment into Korea to exploit the situation there.

KLIC reviewed all orders for the sept. quarter and doesn't see any problems. They say business is still hard and they must work up to the end of each qtr to make it. They see this as an isolated problem and not indicative of technology or customer satisfaction. Also said they are seeing unusual strength in Cyrix and IDT.

I bought more KLIC at the open.
