After doing much more DD - I have decided that catalytic converters are not the way to go for my own personal stock picks. There are 3 fundamental changes occurring in engine technology / emission reductions: 1) catalytic converters 2) lean burn systems 3) fuel cells. I have gathered that the major paradigm shift will be away from "after the fact" adaptions to reduce emissions - towards "before the fact" technology to reduce emissions. In other words, WPT's technology, which is based on initial cleaner burns, and Ballards fuel cells to eliminate the problem altogether as opposed to mechanical "clean up" technology. What does this mean in the future? - Anything to do with natural gas is going to go up - anything to do with oil has begun the same trajectory as gold/silver. If you are interested in buying the future - go with fuel cell/lean burn technology - if you are interested in short term solutions - stick with catalytic converters - keeping in mind that they will one day go the way of the horse and
buggy. Needless to say I will switch my holdings accordingly. I have greatly appreciated everyone's posts - very informative - I found myself getting caught up in buying the present and not the future. To each their own I guess.
