Don't think that Oracle has much of a chance against Microsoft - Compaq and IBM. Oracle is going to take a huge hit from both sides.

Oracle doesn't offer an integrated solution. That puts them in direct competition with SAP, BAAN, and Peoplesoft in the applications area.

In databases Microsoft is making databases a commodity, especially with SQL Server 7.0. Microsoft will also introduce a data warehousing product targeting Oracle's core database business.

Wake up people - there is no profit in the application end. That's why Oracle's earning are going to contiue to fall and fall.
