Hi everyone. I didn't have the available cash to buy ORCL when it was at 24, but was really upbeat on their prospects after seeing some presentations on Oracle Version 8. Even though I knew the stock had made a great move from 18 - 30, I though it had great potential for the coming year. I bought 200 shares on Wed @ 30 1/2.

I sold them yesterday for 28 1/2. So much for my long term plans.

I personally don't believe the NC report is the reason for the sell off. Why ? Look at NCDI. All they make is network computers ! Yes they were down a point but it took a while on Friday for the price to drop. This news should have been DEVESTATING to them.

The thin client software design model is the next wave of computing whether it runs on NCs or PCs. Oracle's products are well positioned for this shift whether they sell NCs or not.

I believe the analysts did not like what they heard at the meeting. They were told just a few weeks ago that everything was fine for the 4th quarter (one of the reasons I bought). I think we all believe now that they were told something to make them question that prior assessment. So what do you do with a stock from a company when you're told everythings A-OK and then a few weeks later you're told "well everything's ALMOST A-OK". As much as Wall St. may love Oracle from a sales and brand name perspective, they've been burned twice in just a few years on its financial performance.

I'm also concerned that the analysts meeting did not get wide spread attention. I definitely appreciate all the news postings that are placed here by everyone. Otherwise I would have had no clue (other than the stock price) of what was going on. So thanks. You guys a have a good thread going here. So you have to wonder what will happen to ORCL stock on Monday once this news is digested and its charts stochastics indicate it is moving down quickly from an overbought position.

When you analyze Friday's stock activity, also try to remember that their is short interest at work as well as day trading. Hence some of the back and forth movement between 28 and 29. Rallies during the day may have been short covering from shorting which helped push the stock down to 27 3/4 so fast in the morning. The stock closed near it's low for the day -- not a good sign. Can't tell you what the last 7000 after-hours trade at 28 3/4 means. Sorry.

These are just my thoughts. I have no special insight into Oracle. I, like the rest of you, am trying to make some sense out of the information was have at our disposal. I still think Oracle has great long term prospects. I just want to make sure I don't buy it again at too high a price.

Regards,
Chris
