John, I think you might have gotten off the beaten track when you soaked the peanuts in bean liquid. I have just done a thorough search of my extensive collection of old and new cookbooks, and cannot find bean liquid really being used as a marinade of any kind.

I would suggest that there was perhaps some kind of mild hallucinogenic created from the reaction of the peanuts and the bean liquid, in fact. If the beans were canned, maybe a bit of lead poisoning thrown in?
