<<but let me assure you that I'm not and I am VERY close to this.>>

How close can that really be, Gary? When just a few posts earlier you said:

<<I find that hard to believe. Where is UBS getting this information?>>

<<Oh, one other note... Cisco (through StrataCom) does have a good understanding of carrer nets. So your accurate comment about price performance is fully understood. >>

Glad to see the understanding is there. Guess all that leaves is a good competitive product, huh? This year, you think?

<<So, Scott, I understand your defensiveness. But, the world is more than just GTE, more than just WAN switches and RAS.>>

But Gary, thats just about all that ASND does. I'm glad that CSCO can afford to lose those two areas to ASND and still do well. Still, a $100M+ GTE contract here, $150M Williams contract there, $100M+ NTT contract, plus AT&T too, and don't forget about Telesys, France Telecom and the rest of Europe, and China too, and pretty soon that adds up to real money, no?

Gary,
Sorry if I seem defensive, I assure you I am not. The reason that I bring up the Project manager is to illustrate the point that for all the spin doctoring at the corporate level w/ strategic partnerships ETC... GTE never slowed buying and were installing Ascend gear during this time frame. Conclusion- Cisco was posturing. As you well know 1/2 the game is mindshare, Cisco was/is trying to gain mindshare in this sector. I do like the way that you attribute major contract wins by Ascend over Cisco (AT+T,GTE) as minor political issues. I'm sure that you know once Ascend gets embedded in these major network cores it will be difficult/impossible to get them out. On another point, I value your opinion and everyone else who has something intelligent to say.
