Yes, I think you're right, and that's why I'm quite happy holding a little mpv, and am watching it for signs telling me to load up. That 'producing at a profit' will be dependent on significant value coming from the larger and more valuable high-end gemstones, though, and so that is what I am watching. The political angle may indeed reduce the valuation threshold that De Beers would otherwise choose ... good point.

My first post today was just to support chuck, who I felt had been unfairly set upon.
Then he/she of the Dim and Fading Light chose to yap and threaten to nip my pantleg.

So it goes ... -g- ......... thanks for your civil tone, skelly .... cheers .... macros

Hi Skelly....... I thinks the safest hedge or safeguard against Canadian diamonds having any influence upon DeBeers diamond cartel and their monoply on pricing would be to simply, as they have in the past with other diamond producers, buy up the diamonds at discount pricing(large lots and production guarantees)or to simply leave the diamonds in the ground, if that option exists. The only way DeBeers,IMO, will drop 1/2 a billion +into a Canadian mine is if the Gem quality is way up there like 40% or higher and the likelyhood of some real boombas, you know the kind Richard used to buy for Liz, the kinda stuff that Princess Grace would wear or the really big stuff like Marcos showers upon his several wives...........at any rate I sure hope Gabriela has a strong opinion on this little contraversy.......chuck

I would figure that DeBeers by opening the office in Vancouver not long ago speaks volumes about what their intentions are. They are certainly concerned about diamonds that enter the market without going through their cartel. The idea they have floated recently (to put the DeBeers name on each stone) is an attempt to market their stones against the competition. DeBeers is synonymous with diamonds, any attempt to distinguish themselves from a competitor is wise. Surely with Canada set to produce somewhere around 15% of the worlds diamonds DeBeers is positioning themselves to be involved at the mining end of things and at the marketing end of things. It will be fun to watch things unfold over the next few weeks. The recent " quiteness" in the share price is the calm before the storm. I would like to book passage on Gab's rocketship ride when share price pops.
cheers, Mark

Reply #697 - Bla bla blaSS In response to synthetics, I think the better expression is to say who cares if they are used for diamond drills or not. MPV will be a mine, mark my words. In answer to question #2 "What is the largest diamond that MPV has found to date?" The answer is 2.88cts from the 5034 mini-bulk sample (104 tonnes). #3 is a ludicrous question simply because an average size does not determine value. #4 is pathetic, there is no comparison, MPV has four highly diamondiferous pipes and WSP has diamond bearing dykes. WHOOPY !! get out them shovels and lets mine them there dykes. PLEASE!!S. I would challenge you to compare the initial exploratory results from any of Diamet's and/or Aber's pipes to MPV's existing pipes. Call MPV investor relations for confirm
