What about wonderful regional expressions?

One of my favorites, from my southern childhood, is "who-shot-John." But when I ask people up here - "What's all the who-shot-John about?" -- they give me a puzzled look.

Canadians are known to pronounce the word about as "aboowt" or "aboot". I can't do it justice in writing. As well as our infamous "eh", we certainly have a few regionalisms of our own. When I was in London, Englands I found the standard answer to any question I asked "Pardon me". I had to repeat every thing twice. If you are not tuned into an accent, or expect a different accent, it can be similar to speaking a different language. In Paris, people from Quebec had to speak in English because their Quebecois French was not easily understand to the Parisians. It is all quaint and interesting and makes this world a wonderful place to live in. Vive la difference!
