<<Really curious about what Japanese are going to do..they could really create a bull market in gold either way..they can continue to ignore their fundamental problems..or they could fix them and use gold as one means for currency stability..the lower the yen goes..the less
likely the prudent Japanese savers would want to have their assets
in yen denominated holdings..>>
We have seen Flight to Quality while south east Asian markets crashed.

I decided to share the email response about what happens when the
Europeans get together..
"In any event, you reminded me of how the representatives of the various countries treated one another in the European Telecommunications Standard forums. I was always amazed at the view of the group and the obvious biases. The reps. of the big three, Germany, France and the UK, were relative equal and recognized as the most important, though the French delegates were sometimes a half a step below. They all treated the Italians with respect but their opinions were always treated as less important. The Dutch and the Belgian's were considered competent and given more respect than the Italians but their opinions were given similar treatment. The Nordic countries seldom did more than support the Germans (strong relationships between the PTTs). The Spanish and Portuguese were at the bottom of the pecking order. The amazing thing to me was that those that were discriminated against didn't complain; in fact, they often helped explain the bias by citing actions of their Governments."
