Yes, Janice, you are quite right about maggots being a delicacy in many parts of the world.

In fact, did you know that most common source of protein on earth is insects? I found that out at Bug Day at our local zoo. They served fly chip cookies, and a most interesting dip made of crushed insects and sour cream. Some other dishes too, but I don't remember them all now.

In any event, an aversion to eating insects is simply culturally taught. If we had grown up in the third world, we would have been weaned directly to insects, and eaten them at our parents' knees!!
