CpuIdle....CPU cooling

Ok Networm, I downloaded CpuIdle from stud.uni-hannover.de as you indicated in #reply-3940334 . I read the supporting information and noted no cautions for my system so I installed it.

The installation process is quite simple. First you have to open a zip file. Put the extracted files in any directory (folder). I put them in a directory CPUIDLE. I then went to start/run and executed the program. That's it. (the author recommends putting it in your start up folder but I will pass on that for awhile. It is easy enough to execute it.

I now have a new icon in the lower right of my computer. I right clicked on the icon and found out the following information.

CPU speed 201
Family 5
Stepping 4
Type P55C
MMX enabled

Auto HLT enabled (a CpuIdle function)
Low Power disabled ( a CpuIdle function)

CpuIdle version 2.53 (the web site indicates 2.52)

I do not know if my CPU is running cooler but I trust that it does. Even a small decrease in operating temperature should have advantages.

I have noticed no changes in the performance of my computer but the program has been installed less than one hour.

The only way I know to test it is to open the case and feel the CPU. I am not planning on doing that tonight but will at some point in time.
