Off of the Yahoo site: There were a number of posts that you may want to read to understand the answers to their collective questions. h911fire (48/M/CA) Apr 8 1998 10:35AM EDT I will try to answer all questions from last night. First, I'm not sure who presented at the Smith Barney Healthcare Conference. I was only told that they didn't do a very good job of explaining the very positive things that are going on at IMNT. I'm also unaware if the CEO Rardin was ever an analyst. I know the Scott Remley (CFO) was an anlayst at Robinsom Humphrey prior to being named CFO at IMNT. The question of the VA Hospital contract is a little more complicated. And I have to take the word of an analyst (at Punk Ziegel with whom I have confidence) as to what the current state of that contract is. It seems that the original VA contract was to be done hospital by hospital, unless a region (Usually about 5 to 8 hospitals)wanted to go in together to do a deal. The first two hospitals have gone to IMNT and the IS people at the hopitals love it. They love it so much they are apparently helping IMNT with the other VA hospitals and some independent hospitals as well. Then here comes the DOD. They hear about the system at the VA Hospitals and want the same type of thing. So my understnading is that they then want to be part of the process as well, which delays some decions by the VA. The interesting part is that they plan to award the contract, with an overall size of $4 to $5 billion by the end of the gov't fiscal year, Sept.30, 1998. IMNT's part of this contract, should they get it, would be about $800 mil over 4 years. The reasons why IMNT should (Not necessarily WILL) get the contract are: 1.IMNT has completed all the interfaces to the VHA's legacy systems, a two year process beginning with it's Buffalo VHA implementation (started in 1996). The VHA has defined a two year rollout schedule beginning immediately. A switch to an alternate vendor would delay this process another two years. And under the CPRS initiative, installation is mandatory in each of the 174 hospitals. 2. The VHA checks (remember that all of this is from Punk Ziegel who has claimed to have spoken directly with hospital officials) indicate that the Tucalusa and Buffalo sites are very happy with IMNT. 3. CPRS was recently fielded at VHA Tuscalusa and is being used on a day to day basis. 4. No othe vendor has the integrated imaging/workflow/medical imaging capability of IMNT. 5. IMNT is clearly the dominant vendor in the sector with the most mature infastructure and most established track record. The company has over 75 live systems in the field on MSFT NT Platforms. 6. The DOD has mandated that all new information systems it installs be on the MSFT NT Platform, and IMNT is one of only a few vendors with a live, tested and proven NT based system. ***This is the info that I got from Punk Ziegel analyst, Michael Knepper. I don't know him personally, but have found him to have a firm grasp on what is transpiring with IMNT. It is his belief that several firms are looking at initiating coverage on the stock. Morgan Keegan, Robinson Humphrey, and others. I'm sure this will open the flood gate of questions that I will try to find answers to, but remember that I have to depend on a number of sources of info and that each person must determine it's credibility.
