This isn't a technical comment, but it should put to rest doubts about the upgrade path for DLT, and any thoughts that competing products will make it obsolete later in the year. However, it would appear to make it plausible that, as the upcoming cartridges have a capacity of 500 gig, after market sales of media won't be terribly robust. Even if a company is backing up, say, 5 terabytes of space, that is only 10 cartridges.

It is great news, IMO.

HP, IBM and SEG are coming with a 100 GB capacity tape drive.
Does anyone know when this stuff will appear on the markets?
The specs of the new DLT look far better, but they will be available not before mid 99, is the competition a danger to QNTM profits?
I like the coop with LU and QNTM!

Cheers
Michael

GO QNTM!!
