Sun's president speaking about java, huhn, there's a good unbiased opinion.

Can't believe Sun is wasting it's time with this shit. It's like when Ray Norda goes out and buys Word Perfect and Quattro Pro to compete with MS on the desktop, and then neglects Netware, Novell's cash cow. No wonder they were blindsided by NT. Gates is in in-fighter. Get in the trenches with him and he will slice you like bread. (And I am anything but a MS fan. I TOTALLY resent the amount of control MS now has over my work life.)

If McNeally was smart, he would be pushing Solaris to be the best, not just best Unix, but the best operating system you can use, bar none.

Java is a lot of fun, and a great distraction, but it's not going to pay the bills.
