Read my earliest posts on this thread for my arguments for DPMI over
PLAB - the late January DPMI announcement re DUV, the DuPont connection, etc. I think it is better positioned long term at the high end than PLAB. Its greater foreign exposure has contributed to poorer
short term performance, in my opinion - which may be largely irrelevant to a long term investment decision.

Denis, thanks for reviving that post on Mask Prices; I knew I had received it back when, but couldn't locate on a fast scan.. To me it is VERY useful info. Not too many companies in this industry are looking at increased prices for their product.. Can you imagine Intel's processor prices if they tracked with photomask costs? I'd be back using a 386-SX processor :-) TSO

Denis -- And the photomask prices are going up faster than was thought on this thread.. We were using $4k for the .35u; $16k for .25u; and $44k for .18u. There has been an adjustment upwards, it seems. TSO
