Paul:

re <<Many M & A guys will profit from a CitiCorp/Traveler's Merger so my bet is that the FTC will approve it.>>

Amazing. The heads of Citi and Travelers called Bill Clinton and Allan Greenspan among others and said "We know it's currently illegal for a bank to buy an insurance company, but here's kind of what we're looking at, wadda ya think?"

In the meantime the government makes up the rules as they go along in looking at msft and intc.

Best Regards,

Greg Gimelli

Paul, Re: >"Many M & A guys will profit from a CitiCorp/Traveler's Merger so my bet is that the FTC will approve it.<

Ok maybe they will approve it. But do you think congress will change the banking de-regulations laws creating a pre 1929's investing euphoria? After all that is why they de-regulated in the first place.

>"After all - it will be good for shareholders and customers - right?"<

It's already good for shareholders. Not sure about customers.

>"Especially after they lay off about 20% of the combined company."<

That doesn't sound like something a democratic government would want to happen?
