Hmmm . . . I know nothing of golf or fishing. I did manage to potty train a child without creating any neuroses or traumas, however. I gave her all the tools--a colorful, brightly colored potty chair, some books to read in the bathroom, training pants, pretty "big girl" panties, and plenty of space to decide when she was ready to use them.

People who do not understand small children may not know that they rebel against being forced to potty train before they are ready. Their poop is about all they have that they have PRODUCED at that age, and they are in charge of it. In a struggle with a small, determined, resilient child over issues of autonomy, the adult will seldom win without damaging the child or causing a life-long attitude of rebellion.

I wonder if it might be people who were forced to potty train before they were ready who never quite grow up, and are doomed to poop all over some of the threads here at SI?
