Charles, I shorted ALTIF from 12 down to 9 and covered there when it rebounded a bit. Now there are two possibilities - someone decides this thingamajig actually works and you get caught in a squeeze, or the discount convertible holders start flipping and you get to ride it down to minus-5 territory.

In your place I would put in a tight stop and wait it out. But I'm not initiating a new short with so many other fat targets out there right now. You may want to consider whether that margin could be better used elsewhere.

Charles or anyone, One last tax ? concerning shorting. Can the margin interest be deducted from regular interest on sched B?
