I jumped ship on Ask God before I succumbed to the temptation to start filleting some of them myself <g>. Glad to see you are well also. Best wishes on the package you are expecting next week.

I haven't read Benford but will check into him. I use to read a tremendous amount of science fiction, everything from Asimov to Zellazny including Ellison (both of them <g>). I started drifting away when I first moved away from New York in the early 80s. A good friend of mine turned me on to Brin about 4 years ago and I have been an avid fan since.

The finest space battles I ever read were penned by Niven. Protector. First fellow I ever read who conveyed the impression of three-dimensionality.
Niven's Kzin franchise universe became host to a long series called The Man-Kzin Wars, including a recent novel written by (my brain farteth) called A Darker Geometry. Ripping reads. Think of the weapons potential of a one-ton iron ball, delivered at a meaningful tau value.
