Charred,

You are right. Placer has made mistakes. The biggest was not informing their shareholders of the question of title on LC 4&6 during the first few years of work down there. Expect a shareholder lawsuit against PDG management after the ruling. To further back this claim up, ask yourself, why was Brook McDonald fired as head of PDG Venezuela back in March of 1997?

Answer: Because John Willson found out that McDonald had not disclosed to upper management the problems PDG faced concerning title to LC4&6. If you look at PDG financial statements today, PDG now discloses that there exists legal problems. Further, if you check the official gazette of Venezuela, you will NOT find that PDG or CVG has EVER had title to LC4&6!

Other PDG disasters(recent):

a) kicked out of Costa Rica

b) kicked off of a property in Argentina after drilling the property for 18 months

c) huge chemical spill in Phillipines which caused PDG to divest of it's operations there

d) illegal bidding for a property in Kazackstan cost PDG $25 million---in fairness I'll acknowledge that PDG has reached some sort of settlement with the govt, but will not get their entire investment back.

Charred, you need to get informed.

Well, my professionally negative friend, there IS no Santa Claus, I will admit. But at least Marc Oppenheimer beat the drum from 1.50 and told everybody to buy. So, if they did and many I know did, then they made lots of money so far. They did not lose. And even those who bought at the high will probably not lose.

What do you expect the founders to do about a speculation? Die broke? Would you? Would you sell shares to exercise options at a high price? Doesn't everybody else in every other company? Have they lied to anybody..? Has Placer?...wait a minute .. ok.. now it is clear.

Did you know that IBM stole nearly every invention in computer science that made them billions, the disc drive, open architecture PC's the IBM Selectric typewriter, the dot matrix printer? All stolen from an engineer. Nice guys. Intel stole the CPU from Gilbert Hyatt, a California electronics engineer, while pretending a joint venture on the idea for a year. Xerox employed a team of engineers who went to motels with other people's copiers and took them apart and figured out what they could steal. I have not proven but I am fairly sure the graphics tablet was stolen from a physics professor at Lakehead University.

So Dome is the good guys. I would doubt it. I know them. I know Noranda. They do things that Adolph Hitler drew the line at. If they lose this orebody, and I am sure they deserve to, I will not cry.

I would estimate the bribes Dome paid in VZ to the FORMER administration at 10 million. Why do you think the former PRESIDENT of VZ went to Jail? Why do you think that for 52 of the CVG joint ventures the courts have forced the MEM to turn them all back to their rightful owners?

Corruption.

The one thing I will say about the Latin Americans is they are not afraid to expose rot and punish it. I would say for that their sense of Justice is as strong as anybody's.
