CSFB uses a subsidiary called CSFB "Mortgage Capital LLC" for all of its real estate lending. My guess is that they have some sort of similar subsidiary for equity investments.

Re. preferred financing, some thoughts. First, in addition to being convertible, preferred shareholders are usually entitled to certain liquidation rights for delinquent preferred dividends. What preferred rights were granted to these holders? They stand in front of common stockholders in liquidation order. Did CSFB entity purchase those shares or was it someone else?

Second, what is a "financing package"? It is possible that some part of that "package" was merely the interest payments on the Morgan notes being rolled over again. Again, how much NEW cash was made available to CVUS is the critical question.
