Scientific-Atlanta to use Sun's PersonalJava

SAN FRANCISCO, April 6 (Reuters) - Scientific-Atlanta Inc., one of the leading makers of
set-top boxes for cable television systems, said it will license Sun Microsystems Inc's (SUNW -
news) PersonalJava technology for its digital set-top boxes.

The agreement follows several recent deals to license Sun's Java programming language, which lets
many types of software run on many different computer systems. PersonalJava is Sun's version of
Java that is designed to be used in set-top boxes and other consumer devices such as cellular
phones.

''This continues the acceptance of PersonalJava in the consumer space,'' said Ed Zander, Sun
chief operating officer.

Sun's pact with Scientific-Atlanta follows other recent
agreements for Java.

Late last month, Ericsson AB said it would license PersonalJava in its third generation mobile
communications products and Sony Corp said it would use PersonalJava to develop a digital
''home entertainment network.''

Tele-Communications Inc (TCOMA - news) also has licensed PersonalJava for its future digital
set-top boxes.

Brian, Your input is great but something doesn't add-up - OTC stocks are counted twice - sell and buy - not necessarily the same amount - your post indicates only 15,000 shares were sold - can't be - the wholesalers do not have the inventory to satisfy the buy side - I realize they must go short to satisfy the buyers which is one reason you see greater price volatility on the downside on relatively low volume after a big move up- the market makers need to cover their short position - the type of mkt. maker in a bulletin board stock rarely if ever goes long or short overnight - too much risk - they are not investors just go betweens with little or no brokers at their firms - I suppose they could be tied to a large seller but you still need to post the sells - curious - G
