What's interesting when you think about that song (which is one of my all-time favorites) is that Johnny tells the Devil he's the best that's ever been. But doesn't the Bible say that those who exalt themselves shall be humbled and those who humble themselves shall be exalted? By all rights, Johnny should have lost.

Would you bet your soul against a fiddle of gold? Talk amongst yourselves.

Hi Thomas,
When it comes to spiritual matters children have it all over us. After the guy shot at us I asked my 2 boys why they thought he had done this. My younger son (7) said the man wanted to hurt God and knew that if he hurt us it would hurt God. I sat there speechless as I am sure you were and most of all I was humbled. Nancy

My Children
are curious, gregarious, cautious and impressionable. I am sure that they will pay far more attention to what my wife and I do than anything that I can say to them. I have found a simple answer to the questions my 4 and 2 year old ask about God.

Night or day we go outside or look out a window and look up, I stretch my arm and slowly span the view out and upwards, He is There, I tell them.

On the other hand

Watch for buses, don't step out into traffic, cook eggs like this, get the dog clipped, mow the lawn, go to work, go to church, go to the in-laws, golf, take the kids to a show, eat drink be merry.
