Tony - Re: " Intel and others have designed what is called a node for Deschutes, as they did for PPro. What it consists of is a motherboard (now being called a baseboard, or system board for PC."

This product doesn't sound like an "announced" product.

What O/S will run on this multiple-node system?

Paul

Tony,
<It runs at 400 MHz out of the chute>

Not quite. The 333mhz PII is a Deschutes and is available now.

<L2 also, maybe on chip, maybe not. >

You're thinking of Mendecino. Deschutes has no on chip L2.

<128 MB to 4 GB>

Not on the desktop. (you're the one who mentioned 440BX).

tony, 300-MM shift tobe delayed.. industry tranision for 12"pushed out... EE times 4/6/98 pls. read tell me what u think of amat etc.
techweb.cmp.com

tony, i was hoping to pick up some amat, nvls in this tech-wreck;
i already have nvls. Was hoping for a pop in '99 but this looks like
couple more years...2001?
it says that ...
while other chip makers have delayed plans for the 300-mm transition or are waiting for the
equipment industry, Siemens and Motorola have taken the lead with their Semiconductor300
joint-venture in Dresden, Germany.

A fast ramp of the 300-mm tools market is not expected. "We are expecting a double hump," Polak
said. "Supply of tools for pilot fabs next year, and two years later equipment for volume production."
