Stockman:

<<What you missed is that AMD's ASP's will be $100 regardless of the process. Also AMD's margins will be 18%.

Tough to make money in any Q, with the above parameters.

AMD in a very weak position, IMHO.>>

You are hopeless. You can't even think for yourself. Let me explain.
Even at $100 a K6, there are maximum of 350 potential 0.25um K6 per wafer. Even at conservatively 140 dice/wafer that translates to $14,000/wfr. THAT IS ALOT OF MONEY! It costs about $2000-$8000 per wafer. In reality the ASP for the K6 0.25um IS NOT $100. Jerry can say what ever he wants, K6-266 is selling for $150 and K6-300 at $250. Lowest speed for .25um part is 266MHz. Now go do your math.

SM, what happens when/if dell announces a K6 optional box? Although dell has a wonderful relationship with Intel, dell is married ro progress/cost. dell has been testing the K6 - we'll see what they come up with. ibm obviously has use for it.

S, re:<You say Maverick missed "AMD's margins will be 18%">
No he didn't. Those are net profit margins, i.e., including SGA, Depreciation, R&D etc and assuming that ASP is $100.
