Rod, the "probable basis" of my religious beliefs could be, for one, stated like this: human life is simply too miraculous to have just "happened" for no reason or purpose. "Survival" is not applicable to the very first beginning of life. Survival comes into play after the first living thing came into being as a life form. I believe that only an omnipotent God is capable of creating life, and he had a reason and purpose: He wanted to love us, and so he created us, and he does love his creations. Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself". Is that offensive to you?
