Paul,

Ford has chosen a side-impact "torso" airbag that deploys from the seat. This is NOT a head and neck device that competes with the ITS. And yes rollover testing is being done on a Bronco, quite successfully so far.

Be careful to look closely at these type of releases. Some would mislead you into thinking the torso bag protects the head and neck, no such animal is commercially available at this time.

One question: If you are wearing your seatbelt (which is a requirement of the testing) and an airbag pops out from the side of the seat, how does the bag get around the seatbelt anchor to provide head and neck protection? The answer: It doesn't.

Keep the faith, we are still the leader.

The AP report is a contraction of the NYT article. SUV's (which I assume includes the Bronco) were excluded from this decision, at this time, if I remember what I read a few hours ago.

That decision will be made by Ford later.

Wonder why ???

I also wondered how the market would react in the stock. (See below for the answer.) I consider this a positive announcement, but others who have not been studying the regulations, patents, first tier supplier relationships, etc., may not see it that way. This is not a market lost...... it IS a market now acknowledged, and therefore gained. (All IMHO, of course.) mcd
