IMO I think MSFT's alliance w/Sony bodes well for GIC (as well as the implementation of digital tv)
I understand that alot of alliances are formed to get back at other companies. I think MSFT is pissed at TCI for them not giving them the lion's share the platform biz, so they started tallking with Sony. I believe will put pressure back on TCI to get MSFT more control. We'll never know the whole story, but it's a good angle.
BTW,I believe in the Ed Breen story, I think we'll be hearing more from him before this is over, on the direction GIC wants to go with digital. Right know we hear all the opinions of other industy leaders jockeying for position in this ENORMOUS opportunity, which is good chatter (and helps our stock price), but I really believe the big picture is how GIC will interpret this evolution in convergence. And that is when we will really be in the catbird seat!
