Jfred,

So, the Mayor of Anaheim had a Bassett Hound. Does that old TV show, "The People's Choice" come to mind?

Bassett Hounds are marvelous and placid creatures. I adore Bassett Hounds, almost as much as I adore my all-time favorite breed, Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers. One famous writer of dog manuals and literature has referred to Bassett Hounds as canine Sherman tanks. A most fitting description, I think.

While I loved and adored my Puli, I would not choose another of that breed, nor would I recommend a Puli as a pet to very many people. Pulik are deceptively cute and cuddly in appearance but are the Hungarian equivalent of a pitbull. Ya' gotta be real alpha with them and all of the time.

You will be gratified to learn, I am sure, that my dogs absolutely loved the mail carriers. But then, they loved anything that had two hands to pet them.
