John/ The postal guy delivered a glossy 58 page magazine yesterday called "Nickle's New Technology Magazine". The thing is a special edition put out by Nickle's Energy Group (a division of Southam Inc.) and is meant to highlight some of the technologies, processes and ideas that will be showcased June 9 - 11 at the National Petroleum Show in Calgary. There's a one page editorial entitled "New Technology" and there's a couple of brief anecdotal paragraphs how the senior technologist of automation systems at PanCanadian Petroleum Limited indicates the application of SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) has changed the way PanCanadian does business. General spin is that there's increasing concern on operating costs, "the bottom line remains the bottom line", etc. Just wondering, I'm not sure of Unitec's marketing presence in Alberta/B.C. gasfields. I do realize you've got real stuff happening with Renaissance Energy. Will Unitec or your agents be participating at the National Petroleum Show? As well, the International Pipeline Conference takes place in Calgary June 7 - 11 and the Petroleum Society of CIM meets June 8 - 10. Indications are that there should be somewhere around 42K individuals attending the National Petroleum Show which is estimated to include 3,000 international visitors. Any comments? The editorial was done by Stephen Marsters (stephen_marsters@nickles.com <403> 209-3539) and Southex Exhibitions is organizing the NPS.

John, *off topic*

It has been a few years since I lived in the Pacific Northwest (Lake Oswego for three years) but I remember the Spring times there very well (maybe most notably for the Spring Chinooks which I fished avidly). I too had cherries in the backyard as well as apples and scads of rhododendron. What a beautiful place it was. I miss it and hope to go back someday.

Best,
Stitch
