Avenger, they are one of the few making money and their EPS is actually increasing. The companies that have lowered their commissions to $8 or so are making almost no money. So actually, E-Trade is the only one whose execution is flawless. The only problem is that, as you said, there is a lot of competition. I'm betting that E-Trade gets bought out. None of these companies will have gone bankrupt in 3 years, though. The industry is too young for the owners to throw in the towel after only 3 years.
