VLAD,

I'm glad to see Vivus repurchased 1.6 m shares. This at least sends a strong message that management is confident in the company.
Now, if only the street would regain confidence in them.
One other positive note is that the new facility is non contract labor and highly automated, and this will result in a substantial savings.

As to be expected, Vivus is still waiting for the FDA inspectors to show up and inspect the new plant. Typical government agency, slow and inefficient.

The conference call was cut short and my questions were never answered, plus Nina never returned my call.

VLAD,

What do you make of the following paragraph taken from the business wire indicated below:

VIVUS Reports First Quarter Results
BusinessWire, Thursday, April 09, 1998 at 07:47
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--April 9, 1998--VIVUS Inc

...
Also, during the quarter, VIVUS received Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) approval of the finished packaging area contained
within its new facility located in Lakewood, New Jersey. Approval of
this operations area will allow the Company to transfer the final
packaging of US commercial product from the current contract
facilities to high speed, automated equipment in the new plant. This
efficiency should result in cost savings to the Company.
...

The paragraph state that Vivus "RECEIVED" FDA approval during the quarter. Could this be a typo or are there more than one pending FDA approval for the new plant and/or its operations?

Live long & Prosper,
4-BOB

>>Good chance we may even close higher than 10.

VLAD,

Good Call!

But isn't anyone concerned that the co. missed the consensus
estimate, and the stock price was essentially flat from
yesterday with *only* 1.1 M shares traded after earnings
announcement, in front of a 3-day weekend no less?

Smells bad to me--like the big-money holders were all
given the news in advance of the small fish. Comments?

David
