<<Question to all - who is the most likely candidate for the Republicans for president in 2000?>>

My off-the-cuff guess is Colin Powell. They are going to want to have a candidate who is credible and popular with the voters, who seemingly has no skeletons in the closet and who can ride the high road while letting the party operatives slime whichever Washington insider gets the Democratic nod.

The 2000 election may end up being a watershed event in the history of American politics.
