Thanks for this info and for all your fact-filled posts. However, I remember being absolutely confident around Christmas time that Iomega was having a blow-out quarter. I asked the sales people at my local Staples "How are the Zips selling?". "Can't keep them on the shelves" was the answer. Many posts on this board as well as on the Motley Fool IOM forum contained very similar anecdotal reports. We all know that despite these positive "channel checks" Iomega had a less than stellar 4th quarter.

What went wrong? We all know that Iomega is selling about 1 million (+ or -) Zip drives very month. The problem is that we don't know if Iomega is selling 1.2 million drives or 0.8 million drives this month. If the number is 1.2 million, it should result in better than expected earnings, and the stock will go up. If the number is 0.8 million, it will result in lower than expected earnings, and the stock will go down. In either case they are still moving a sh*t load of Zip drives - and if you ask your local Staples guy "How are the Zips selling?" my guess is that he will give you the same answer "we can't keep them on the shelves". Is Iomega going to have better than expected (i.e., closer to $0.00) earnings this quarter? I wish I had the answer to that question.
