Re "momentum" ... see my comment of today on the CMGI thread, at:

Message 4019626

The time to buy good stocks is when everyone else wants to sell.

The stocks I bought one and two years ago when their price was in the toilet, crashing off artificially inflated highs, even though their business plan was solid, are now the darlings of the latest Internet Mania. Now a source of funds.

Wait until the Satellite Communications and Space Flight Mania hits around 2001. That's why I'm buying wireless and space stocks now.

I don't understand it either. Do institutions know something bad is happening that we don't? I could guess that (1) either the two market makers of ORFR are "permitting" the price to fall to buy more and lower their average cost (in anticipation of good news later), or (2) a major holder is gradually unloading a large block because of Asia.

There hasn't been any SEC filings indicating the latter (so far), but then again the unloading of a position less than 5% can still have a significant effect on the stock price, given the small float. It helps to take a pragmatic, long term view here.

DASA just released excellent earnings. Given Orbit's recent strategic agreement with them, I can't fathom why it's stock continues down.

Irene, care to issue a press release?

regards,
Louis

Re: negative momentum

This is exactly what I said in my last post. If you go back and read it, you'll realize that this was a worry of mine. I really think that there is some bad news lurking around the corner. We went through the same thing before the last earnings release and, in retrospect, it explains the negative downturn. Nontheless, the question remains, is there another warning of some sort that's bound to come out, sooner or later?
