Another Semi warning:

TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT) 22 1/16 +29/32: manufacturer of high performance analog and mixed signal circuits is warning that it expects to report revenues and earnings below Wall Street expectations; according to First Call, TQNT was projected to earn $0.10 a share, vs year-ago net of $0.20 on revenues of $16.8 mln.....

I wish LSI was reporting earlier, I don't know how much longer this sector is going to hold up. I hope LSI doesn't get pulled down with the rest before it can distinguish itself with it's earnings report.

O~~~o.. Good post. And the growing emphasis on communications (now nearly one-third of sales) by LSI is encouraging. Did you notice the run-up by VLSI before SE Asia went to H**l? I think that was largely due to their comm emphasis. Now LSI has a growing comm role, as a supplier to CSCO, and a producer of both the GSM and CDMA flavors of wireless chips.
Shane used to emphasis that that there is a tendency for a lot of electronics functions to converge within fewer and fewer boxes. So perhaps much of what LSI is now targeting in the consumer electronics world will also end up being merged with a comm function of some sort.. Perhaps he will fix his computer and come back and comment..
Anyway, good thoughts... now we just have to hang in there and get through this Valley...nice view from the mountain ahead... TSO
