Did anyone catch Wall Street Week regular, Frank Cappiello, on CNBC a little while ago? In addition to liking oil drillers/servicers (especially GLM and VRC) he made a good point.

He said that whether oil is at $14 or $24, the E&P companies still have to drill to "prove their leases". I presume he means that the leases are for a finite term and that if the E&Pers don't prove 'em, they eventually lose'em.

Could any of the resident oil pros tell me what a normal term is for the typical oil lease if there is such a thing?

Thanks,
PR

Baird...looking more like the turnaround is coming for esv. Volume increasing just like two weeks ago. I didn't think we'd hit 24 but sure are coming close!http://www.iqc.com/chart/default.asp?period=180&time=60m&chart=candle&chart1=ma&volume=y&rsi=y&stochastics=y&momentum=y&symbol=ESV

DO seems really strong at 44. Check the hourly candle chart for 120 time period.
