albert,

<If dell does not want to use them who would?>

Dell?? In case you haven't noticed, DELL is not interested in Segment 0 at all. They are also currently the most profitable box maker in the business. Are these two facts related? I think so. Celeron will be used by box makers who are interested in the low end and want to have the very powerful Intel brand name behind them.

Albert, re: "Celeron is asking for disaster."

Celeron is not going to be a disaster. Even if it disappoints then Mendocino will back it up. Together, they are quite a threat to the competition at the low end. Besides, Intel's mix of products are too diverse for any one to cause "disaster" for the company. Also, as the Mhz gap grows between the low and the middle end, consumers will be more likely to be seduced to the middle end in order to avoid premature obsolescence. I think what you see as Intel's weakness in the low end will be gone by the end of the year. I hope your bet against Intel is well hedged.
