Jack -- <<But Penny left politics. Maybe he felt they were urinating into the wind>> Lots of good people have left for that reason. Look at Bradley - incorruptible, intelligent, and respected on both sides of the aisle. Same with Rudman - in fact, his leaving probably hurt worse. Kasich oughtta be the Republican nominee for Prez; I'd vote for him. Never happen, of course, his district is too blue-collar<G>

<<Much of our political corruption could be cured by simply passing a law against contributing over, say, $100 to any politician or party>>

Amen.

<<Chance of passage? Zero.>> Amen. For now.

Jeff

Honesty is good for POOR PEOPLE because they know it will get them into Heaven.

Corruption is good for RICH PEOPLE because they know they are already in Heaven and want to make sure they stay there.

The law should be that anyone can give any amount they desire, so long as it's publicly accounted- thus the voters would have the info. in plain view to judge. Current laws and resultant shennanigans serve to obfuscate the truth of contributors, and leave people defending with the ignorant, thoughtless sentiment, namely, "so what, both sides do it."
