Virtual Cartel still has a lot of history to learn.

At a time when one was lucky to remotely exchange a few bits of data per second:
cbi.umn.edu
cbi.umn.edu

Of course in time modems are developed, and about two decades later a new technology appears, which, if universally implemented, would allow support for constant-bit-rate voice and video:
netlab.ucs.indiana.edu

Unfortunately implementation of ATM switches in the infrastructure of the internet is just beginning, the majority remains as nothing more than the original packet-switched, routed technology it has primarily remained as over the decades.
