Tom is it the politician of is the state of the public that gives the answer to the future i think the public. One could not abolish welfare and subsidy programs until the public was ready to accept this Decision being the movement at any time seems to be far left or right moderate seems the nigh impossible goal.

Extremities seems to be what happens Japan export saving fanatic Indonesia family fanatic etc. US dollar trade vehicle business vehicle
saved and used by all.

So if the public values our ability to finance would not history play a part here the social climate re telecommunications which in turn influences political movement.

On that base will our dollar be loved or cursed ? If we back the Yen what about South Korea it is such a tricky thing politically as well as economically.
Yet Tom the mergers of the banks leaving fewer institutions plus minus monopoly? Brokerage USA SEA here we come. We are rapidly merging corporations saving costs Tom by extreme which usually leads to hard to control. We were downsizing a bit ago in tech area a bit ago.

What if our dollar loses its favoured status then what? Our economy is no longer teenage but starting to become mature our needs will lessen while others increase. Just thoughts Tom as new history is being born each time we speak. Maybe we will be the most powerful nation in the world.

Bobby Y is female for sure. Think the other one has to put make up on to look like the Y one so i think he is male one with a very good sense of humor.

Tom; I must agree with some of what Darleen posted. I do not generally get involved in discussions like this, but feel that world history is evolving constantly and can be made to look however we want, depending on which pair of glasses we wear. To me, it is all to easy for us to believe that we (the world in general) have evolved beyond all that has gone on before. Easy because of a series of economic events that lends itself to this perception at this particular time.

But I believe that we are still 'all too human'. There are things that we have not even dreamed of that are to occur - and they need not be advances. How many times have we seen that which was up - now down. In every walk of life. It is all too easy for every generation to suppose itself to have reached some pinnacle. To have advanced. Only to have all dreams crushed when these advances are turned on them in many forms, economic and political. We are just in a lull, waiting for the next storms' approach. Funny thing about life - the more things change - well you know that Tom : - ). All we have is history to guide us. And history tells us that through all this change - gold has endured. Whether it goes to $30,000 is ANOTHER question. Certainly beyond me. Then again, the future always is.
